Too often we're standoff-ish when it comes to children. I completely understand why and definitely appreciate strangers keeping their distance from my children. However, when my child is in need and I'm not present to assist, it's comforting to know there is a mom who can give a hug and dry a tear. Such a mom was attentive to my daughter today and I am grateful for her.
My daughter's class is making Christmas cards for a four year old little boy fighting Leukemia. I don't know what time today they were working on this project, but when I arrived to pick her up from her after school activities around 5:30 she was a mess of tears. She has a delicate, caring heart and is frightened that the little boy will die. I was caught off guard to turn the corner and see her sitting out from the activities, crying. But there was another mom and her two daughters who stuck around to comfort her. I don't know how long they had hung out to give hugs and console, but I am very grateful for their concern.
Take a minute to help someone in need. It will absolutely mean the world to them and will do wonders for you.
